Tracy Warren
Chair

Tracy Warren is a general partner of Battelle Ventures, a $220-million fund based in Princeton, N.J., and of its Knoxville, Tenn.-based, $35-million affiliate fund, Innovation Valley Partners, for which she focuses on investments in health & life sciences and emerging energy technologies.

Ms. Warren's other life-science activities include being chairman of the board of** **NellOne Therapeutics and a board director of cardiovascular-device company Endovalve. She led Battelle Ventures investment in CNS-specialty-pharmaceutical company NuPathe, which completed its IPO in August 2010, and also is a member of the Ben Franklin Technology Partners biotechnology and life sciences investment advisory committee.

Ms. Warren started in venture capital in 2001 after being an analyst and associate in SG Cowen (now Cowen and Company) Securities & Health Care Mergers and Acquisitions and Corporate Finance divisions. She holds a B.S. degree from New York University Stern School of Business and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Erik Holmlin, Ph.D.
President and CEO

Erik Holmlin has two decades of experience in the life science and health care industries. His expertise spans technology development and commercialization, global marketing, commercial operations, venture financing, mergers and acquisitions and intellectual property.

Recently, he served as president and CEO of GenVault Corporation, a life science company bringing innovative solutions to biosample management. He merged GenVault with IntegenX, Inc. in January of 2011. He also served as an entrepreneur in residence (EIR) at Domain Associates, LLC, a leading dedicated life science venture-capital firm. Prior to these roles, Erik was chief commercial officer at Exiqon A/S, where he was responsible for global sales, marketing, and clinical affairs for two businesses: Oncology Services in a CLIA lab and Consumables Business in Life Sciences Research.

In 2001, Mr. Holmlin led the formation of GeneOhm Sciences, Inc., for which, over a span of 5 years, he was director of chemistry, senior technology director, vice president of technology and business development, and vice president of marketing.

At GeneOhm, he also led or participated in securing three rounds of venture financing and in the acquisition of Infectio Diagnostics, Inc., and orchestrated GeneOhm's acquisition in 2006 by Becton Dickinson. As an executive at BD, he then served as vice president of marketing and development, responsible for multiple product launches and managing more than 80 employees in three sites and two countries.

Mr. Holmlin was a National Institutes of Health postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University, Cambridge, and a National Science Foundation predoctoral fellow at the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena (Caltech). He holds MBA degrees from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley and the Columbia University School of Business, earned his Ph.D. in chemistry at Caltech, and received his AB degree in chemistry at Occidental College, Los Angeles.

David L. Barker
Independent Director

David L. Barker was Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer at Illumina, Inc., in San Diego, California from 2000 through 2006. Dr. Barker served from 1998 to 2000 as Vice President and Chief Science Advisor at Amersham Biosciences, now part of General Electric. From 1988 to 1998, Dr. Barker held senior positions, including Vice President of Research and Business Development, at Molecular Dynamics, Inc., until the acquisition of Molecular Dynamics by Amersham. He currently serves on the boards of directors of Cell Biosciences, Integrated Diagnostics, IntegenX Inc., and NextBio, and is a scientific advisor to Illumina, GenVault, Diagnostics for the Real World, BiOptix, and DNA Direct.

In his academic career, Dr. Barker conducted interdisciplinary research in neurobiology as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School, Assistant Professor at the University of Oregon and Associate Professor at Oregon State University. Dr. Barker holds a B.S. with honors in Chemistry from the California Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Brandeis University.

Brian K. Halak
Director

Dr. Halak joined Domain Associates, LLC in 2001 and became a Partner in 2006. He currently serves on the board of Alimera Sciences, Carticept Medical, Corridor Pharmaceuticals, Dicerna Pharmaceuticals, Eddingpharm (Cayman), GI Dynamics, and Oraya Therapeutics. He was previously on the boards of Esprit Pharma, until the company was acquired by Allergan, and Vanda Pharmaceuticals. From 2000 to 2001, Dr. Halak was an Associate with Advanced Technology Ventures where he participated in the firms investments in Plexxikon, Percardia and Emphasys. From 1993 to 1995, he was a consultant at the Wilkerson Group where he developed strategy for pharmaceutical and medical device companies. Dr. Halak is currently a member of the Investment Advisory Council for Ben Franklin Technology Partners and BioAdvance, both seed-stage investment groups in Philadelphia. He also serves as an advisor to Elm Street Ventures. Dr. Halak holds a B.S.E. degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. from Thomas Jefferson University.
